Gay sauna Bangkok isn't just about steam rooms or jacuzzis—it's where the city's energy hides. Names like Chakran, R3, Sauna Mania, Krubb Sauna, and 39 Underground mark secret playgrounds where curiosity meets thrill. On O-Party nights, foam, lights, and close bodies create an atmosphere that's impossible to ignore. Temples and street food are just the appetizer—sometimes the real Bangkok experience waits behind sauna doors.
Bangkok has Asia's most active gay sauna scene, and the venues are spread across the city rather than concentrated in one district — Silom has one of the big names, the rest are a BTS ride away in Ari, Chatuchak, Ratchada and Phra Khanong. All of them run themed parties, and on O-Party nights the foam, lights and crowding are the entire point.
Alongside them, a wave of Japanese-style onsen has opened over the past two years and is now a distinct part of the scene. Most have hot tubs, cold plunge pools, saunas and steam rooms; some add restaurants, private rooms and proper overnight accommodation for travellers who want to stay.

One of Bangkok's most popular and longest-running gay saunas, set across three storeys. The facilities are comprehensive and the place is genuinely serene and extremely clean: a Japanese-style bamboo forest rooftop, dark rooms, foam parties, a fitness centre and massage baths.

Open less than a year, so visitor numbers are still average — but with more promotion it's set to become a popular gay destination.

Lat Yao, Chatuchak Outdoor baths, massage tubs, milk baths, saunas, dark areas and genuinely good Japanese interiors — a serene yet vibrant place to relax, with the chance of some wild experiences. The crowd is mostly under 40 with a high proportion of fitness enthusiasts. It pulls a decent crowd on both weekdays and weekends, busiest after 6:30 PM and peaking around 10 PM — but most people gather in the steam room, so the dark areas can be quieter.

A 6-story gay onsen — the newest Kino Sento branch. The fitness center on floors 3–4 is off-limits to onsen patrons, but the facility is still very spacious. Ground-floor hot spring area, 2nd-floor changing rooms, 5th-floor lounge with sofas and beds plus Japanese-style tatami private rooms, 6th-floor private spaces with mattresses for overnight stays. Weekday afternoons see 10–20 people, mostly local Thai men in their 30s–40s. The gym isn't the draw; the onsen area pulls a younger, muscular crowd.

The older, more established Kino Sento branch. Facilities are smaller and more dated than Phahon Yothin 24, but the overall environment is still nice. Private rooms and loft-style beds for overnight guests, plus a Japanese-style private rooftop with chaises and mattresses, and a designated smoking lounge. Weekend afternoons are sparse — numbers pick up after 6 PM. The clientele is entirely local Thai, with an exceptionally high proportion of attractive men. 23-minute walk from Ekkamai BTS.

Surawong, Silom A newly opened gay onsen in the heart of Silom's gay district — spotless, well-maintained, and quickly popular with locals and tourists alike. The clientele skews toward younger local Thais, though the proportion of muscular, well-built men is not particularly high. The 580 THB entrance includes a meal from the second-floor restaurant, which usually offers two choices. The second floor also has a salt room and meditation room (underused), and the third floor is an open Thai-massage area for relaxing and cruising. Activity is concentrated in the hot spring area: two hot pools, one cold pool, a sauna, and a steam room. The steam room is where the action happens — the editor's last visit ended there with a fit local. Busiest between 6 PM and 8 PM, the best window to visit.
