Gayifiers

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 August 2026

This policy explains what Gayifiers collects, why, and what you can do about it. Gayifiers is operated by Uncle Tullio Ltd ("we", "us"), the data controller for the information described here.

1. The sensitive part, up front

Gayifiers is an LGBTQ+ platform. The fact that you hold a Gayifiers account can suggest something about your sexual orientation, and under UK and EU data protection law that makes it special category data.

We handle it accordingly:

  • We rely on your explicit consent, given when you create an account, as our lawful basis for processing data that may reveal sexual orientation. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account (section 8).
  • We do not sell personal data. We have never sold personal data and we do not have an advertising business.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small, and where we can answer a question with coarse or hashed data instead of precise personal data, we do β€” see section 4.

2. What we collect

When you create an account: email address, sign-in method (email link, or an OAuth provider you choose), display name, preferred language, and β€” if you set one β€” a profile picture. If you sign in through a provider, we receive your email address from them; we do not receive your password.

When you buy a membership: your membership status, start and expiry date, plan interval, member ID, the name you chose for your membership card, your billing email, and a Stripe customer reference. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.

When you use the Service: pages and spots viewed, searches, saved spots, check-ins, G Points activity, and how you first arrived (referrer and campaign, where present). Each event is stored with a session identifier, a device identifier and a salted hash of your IP address β€” we do not store raw IP addresses.

When you contribute: reviews, ratings, check-ins, venue submissions and bug reports you send us, including the browser user-agent attached to a bug report.

When you use location features: see section 4.

Email delivery: whether a message we sent you was delivered, opened or bounced, and your marketing opt-in status and the time you set it.

3. Why we use it

  • Running your account and giving you what membership unlocks β€” performance of a contract
  • Taking payment and keeping membership in sync with Stripe β€” performance of a contract
  • Sending service email such as welcome, membership and account messages β€” performance of a contract
  • Sending marketing email β€” consent, opt-in and withdrawable at any time
  • Showing nearby spots and live activity β€” consent, you choose to turn location on
  • Keeping the Service working, secure and free of abuse β€” legitimate interests
  • Understanding which features are used, in aggregate β€” legitimate interests
  • Processing that may reveal sexual orientation β€” explicit consent

4. Location, specifically

Location is off until you turn it on. Nothing asks for your position unless you use a feature that needs it, and your browser or phone will ask you first.

When you use "Near me", your position is used on your device to sort spots by distance. We do not store it.

When you appear in live activity β€” the feature that shows other members roughly where people are tonight β€” your position is snapped to a fixed 200-metre grid before it is stored, and the snapping is done on our server, not trusted from your device. The grid is globally aligned rather than centred on you, which means repeated readings of the same true position always return the identical cell. That matters: it stops anyone from averaging many samples to work backwards to your real position. We never store a precise coordinate for you.

Check-ins you submit deliberately store the coordinates you submitted with them.

You can stop all of this by turning off location permission, or by turning off appearing in live activity in your account settings.

5. Who we share it with

We use these processors. Each one gets only what it needs.

  • Supabase β€” database and authentication. Hosted in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Vercel β€” website hosting, analytics and performance metrics. Global edge network.
  • Stripe β€” payment processing and subscriptions. Global.
  • Resend β€” transactional and marketing email. Global.
  • Google Maps β€” map rendering. Global.
  • Cloudflare Images β€” image hosting and delivery. Global.

We also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

6. Where your data lives

Our database is hosted in Tokyo, Japan. Our hosting and several processors operate globally.

If you are in the UK or EEA, this means your data is transferred outside your home jurisdiction. Those transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards offered by each processor under its data processing terms.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account data β€” while your account exists, then deleted when you delete your account.
  • Membership and payment records β€” kept as long as we must for tax and accounting purposes, typically six years, even after account deletion.
  • Reviews and contributions β€” these stay on the Service after account deletion, but are disassociated from your identity.
  • Analytics events β€” retained in a form that carries only a hashed IP, session and device identifier.

8. Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive it in a portable form, and withdraw consent at any time.

We apply these rights to everyone who asks, wherever you live.

To exercise any of them, email info@gayifiers.com. We will respond within one month.

Withdrawing consent for special category processing means closing your account, because we cannot run an LGBTQ+ membership service for you without processing the fact that you are a member of it.

If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to your local supervisory authority β€” in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

9. Cookies and similar technology

We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language and preview-mode choices. The Service does not work without them.
  • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which measure page performance and traffic without using cookies to identify individuals across sites.
  • Our own event records, which use a session and device identifier and a hashed IP as described in section 2.

We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

10. Children

The Service is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we will remove it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect.
